Research Areas

The research areas of Lighting Laboratory are divided into five groups:


The research work of Lighting Unit is carried out in several national and international research projects. We are participating actively in CIE (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) and IEA (International Energy Agency) work. Research work is financed by National Technology Agency (Tekes), Academy of Finland, European Commission, Finnish Work Environment Fund and lighting industry.

  • LightEnergy (2012-2016): Efficient and Safe Traffic Environments
  • RYM-INDOOR ENVIRONMENT (2011-2014): The Indoor Environment Program focuses on user-centric spaces. The aim is to find solutions to promote the productivity, comfort and health of space users in an ecologically sustainable way. Lighting Unit participates in two workpackages:
