Mesopic Optimisation of Visual Efficiency

Project Objectives

The objective of the project was to define relevant spectral sensitivity functions for the mesopic luminance range of 0.01 – 10 cd/m2, where standardisation is most urgently needed. The objective was also to establish appropriate working practices for the generated new model for performance-based mesopic photometry.

The intermediate objectives of the project included the establishment of suitable criteria and experimental techniques, testing of the derived models and dissemination of the results through the international standardisation bodies. The final objective was to forward the new mesopic model to CIE TC1-58 "Visual Performance in the Mesopic Range" for the basis of a new standard on performance-based mesopic photometry.
